Mark Rutherford


Mark is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years experience in telecommunications and technology Industries.  He specialises in commercial strategy, business development and business planning across both mobile and fixed telecoms sectors.

Mark started his telecommunications career with AT& T in Europe, before going onto form part of the New Business Ventures Team at Orange, tasked with expanding the brand in Europe. As part of that team mark participated in a number of mobile licence bids and lead the syndicated debt financing for Orange Belgium.  Following the sale of Orange, by Hutchison Whampoa, Mark joined 3UK as one of its original employees, spending 4 years as Director of Business Planning and Strategy.

Since 2004, Mark has undertaken a variety of operational, financial and strategic consulting projects for clients leading to a number of successful acquisitions and the establishment of the FibreSpeed NGA broadband network, which has gone onto be the most successful state aid funded independent telecommunications network in the UK. In addition to strategic planning, Mark also participated in the spectrum valuation projects undertaken by Coleago in Canada, Russia, India, Norway and Malaysia, as well as helping to develop the Group Spectrum Strategy for a major international mobile operator
